New WordPress Reader

Reinhold Staden Photography

My comment in the WordPress Forum regarding the NEW WordPress Reader:

I have been working with WordPress for more than 18 months to create my blog for landscape photography in WordPress. Thanks for providing such an awesome content management system to enable that. Today I looked at my blog in the new reader for the first time. I saw horses without a body, landscapes without land, seascapes without sea. Nobody will click on these previews to see more details. You have basically destroyed the work of the last months. And don’t say my images look awesome in the new reader. They don’t. I always loved working with and in WordPress. But may be the wind of change is driving me into another direction. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Nevertheless: I would like to thank you my friends and followers for your support, comments and likes. Merry Christmas and a…

  1. It seems clear to me that the person/team who created the new Reader is not a photographer… 😦

Still – a Happy New Year to all! 🙂

      1. Ooops! Just swallowed down a ‘not-so-nice’ remark… In that case, indeed, I do hope he will remember that… 😉
My best wishes for you and your family too 🙂

  2. Such a failure. Why do they never consult with the bloggers before they do their ‘improvements’? Have a Happy New Year, nevertheless 🙂 Thank you for sharing your art!

  3. Happy New Year. This is a great blog, and you point to one of many co plz it’s about the new Reader, post four photos or more and they all appear as thumbnails, write less than a certain amount it’s all in Reader. What about visits to the blogs we pay for?

  4. I totally agree. My images were not even showing up in reader and I had to go back and reformat today’s post. I am not going back to reformat prior posts. I do understand it looks fine in my mobile but not everyone views posts on their mobile.

  5. First let me say thank you very much for sharing your inspiring work. I fully agree with you regarding the WordPress reader. My point is that the wp reader do not support the original blog sites any more which was completely different a couple of years ago. With any change the wp reader would be more fit and workable for mobile devices and make it easier not to click on the original article. The new version with cropped images is a big failure. I am not optimistic that WordPress will change it. That and due to other reasons I am using an external reader where I have a better overview. Because I prefer to click on the original site and not to like or to comment via the wp reader. Maybe you should still use a new reader like Feedly for example.
    Happy New Year!

    1. Lieber Stefan,

      1. Lieber Lennart,
Du hast Recht was die mobile Nutzung betrifft.

      2. Lieber Stefan,

In diesem Sinne grüßt dich herzlich

  6. At the very least, when I share my posts onto my Photography page on Facebook, it shows a preview on the link with a thumbnail of the whole image. I am not fond of the new reader and how it cuts off my photographic works as well. It’s a bit of a letdown for those of us in the photography field, professionals and students alike.

  7. I also don’t like the new reader at all. You cannot see much of the new posts and it’s more difficult to get interested in them, and for photographies is pretty lame. Anyway, your photos are great and I don’t care about the reader, I’ll always check them out so you can stay in wordpress 🙂 Gutes Neues Jahr im Voraus!

  8. I agree with Reinhold. It’s devastating to see our photos cut in half or reduced to thumbnails. I confess I’ve lost interest in the Reader and have had to force myself to go through it. A huge failure! Not sure they care… 😦
